ZZ - A No Nonsense Plant

Zamioculcas Zamiifolia, aka the ZZ plant, is a great plant for the workspace. It does well in both low light and high light conditions. When in a higher light location, it just needs a bit more water.

ZZ produces 2 to 3 foot long pointed spears lined with alternating shiny dark leaves. It has a potato-like root that grows below the soil and stores water. This root gives it the ability to thrive during dry spells.

"Naturally glossy leaves"

The leaves of a ZZ plant are deep green and smooth. People like to touch them because they are naturally shiny.

The flowers of the ZZ plant look like a small corn-cobb, yellow in color and hidden in the base of the leaves.

He also says that ZZ is known to be a "clean air machine" – so they help create fresh air in an office setting.

It's a tropical plant, so it thrives year round in a temperature range of 65-90 degrees.

However, as a perennial outdoor plant, it has been known to tolerate subfreezing temperatures, coming back in the spring as good as new.

Other names for the ZZ plant are "Ariod Palm", "Succulent Philodendron", and "Eternity Plant".
